Where To Stay

Coco Key Water Resort

The Coco Key Water Resort in Orlando is a 3 star hotel that is part of a hotel chain that has properties in 4 other American cities. This hotel in Orlando opened in 2010 after a complete renovation in all its rooms. It has several buildings and we stayed in the tallest 4-story central building. With a water park inside the hotel, it’s a good option for families who want an economical option in Orlando without giving up comfort. The decoration is very colorful, inspired by the Florida Keys in shades of red, orange and blue and Coco, the parrot symbol of the hotel.

Checkin and Reception

We got there very late and our checkin was super fast. The reception area is huge, areas full of super comfortable sofas, a small recreation room for young children with chairs and TV, an information counter where you can schedule tours in Orlando and also an area with computers and printers with internet complete the reception area.

The room

Coco Key Rooms

One of the highlights of the hotel for me was the room. Pretty big even for Orlando’s standards, they were recently renovated. With modern décor, new carpets, granite bathroom in the sink and bath/shower area, inside the room looks like you’re in a luxury hotel. Besides the King Size bed, very comfortable, with several pillows for those who like ups and downs, a sofa bed, rest area and a work table. There are other options of rooms with two double beds and rooms that connect for larger families.

The closet is a reasonable size, the coffee maker for those who can’t live without the little coffee and the flat screen TV, which always gives a modern touch. Another interesting detail is the extension cable on the table and side of the bed, which guarantees the extra sockets for the pile of electronics that we always carry!

The bathroom

With stone in the sink and shower, the renovated bathroom is definitely a positive point in the bedroom. The products are ProTerra, organic and there is also a hair dryer. The towels are comfortable and soft.

Internet/WiFi Access

More positive points for the hotel… Free Internet access with WiFi from Ibahn, which most other hotels charge the part! You have to renew every 24 hours in the browser, but it was excellent and with good bandwidth, because I had to work every night uploading photos and videos. And besides that, access is also free in the pool and lobby where you have those super comfortable sofas.

Amenities

The parking is free and in an outside area. Some of the rooms have parking in front of the door, but we stayed in the middle of the 5-story building, so I parked where I had space. The pool area has chairs and cabins and also a bar and jacuzzi which is perfect at the end of the day to relax.

On the weekend, at the end of the afternoon, an entertainer makes the children’s party, with music and karaoke, so be warned if your room is near the pool. The hotel also has a gym with modern equipment, a convenience store and some restaurants inside the hotel, including Pizza Hut. The hotel has daily buses to Universal and Sea World parks.

The water park behind the hotel is included in the stay and is a good option for children, if they still have energy after a day in Orlando, or even for that day that parents want to rest by the pool, the lifeguards keep an eye on the children in the tubes.

What we like the most

The renovated room, we love that everything was still brand new. Also the free internet in the whole hotel always gets a lot of points with us. The sensational location and the pool and jacuzzi was what we needed at the end of the day to relax.

To make it perfect

There was a fridge missing in the room. It wasn’t a problem because we used the ice machines in the hallway, but it’s always more convenient when there’s a fridge inside the room, especially with small children.

Location

The hotel is on International Drive, next to Titanic Experience and in front of CiCi’s Pizza. Close to the hotel are several restaurants and fast food chains that you can walk around and also markets and souvenir shops to buy the items for everyday use. Wet n’ Wild is a few blocks away and Universal Studios is the closest park.
